In the past two days I’ve been to Starbucks three times.
Three different Starbucks.
In two days.
Yes, that means today I went to Starbucks twice. Can you feel the coffee rush from here?
Nancy, Beckie, Michelle and I hit Starbucks for a power meeting.
Let’s see, I had a women’s retreat planning meeting one night. We finished our session over coffee and scones. Today I double booked Starbucks. Nothing like living in the suburbs and having multiple coffee shops around town. At 4 pm I met with an awesome young woman who works with the middle school group at church and then at 5 pm I scooted over to another Starbucks to visit with a homeschooling mom.
Not a typical week, even if I do love a tasty Americano with steamed milk. I am trying to be open to who God is placing in my life at this time and take the effort to carve out some quality time with them. Too often I find the weeks pass by in a blur and I haven’t connected meaningfully with anyone outside my family.
Daniel and I are reading Colossians in our daily quiet time. These verses are my prayer this week:
And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. (Colossians 1:10-12)

Project 366 – Day 9
So good to invest your time in friends! Like you said, it can be so hard to carve out that time, and then our chance might be gone! I just learned yesterday that one of my favorite friends here is moving in less than 2 months, and we have never done the going out for coffee that we always talked about doing. Seize the (Starbucks) moment!!
Kathy,
I’d love it if you posted how you are organising this retreat. Remember I asked last year? I have no experience of such things and it sounds interesting. How about ‘Womens’ Retreats for Dummies.’?
I do know all about Starbucks (our town does not have one, alas) so you don’t need to start with that. {vbg}
Just an idea!
Beautiful picture at the top!!
Wonderful verses- thanks for sharing them!!
Love you, AK
That’s not typical? I thought that multiple Starbucks trips a day were mandatory to live in the Seattle area.
“I am trying to be open to who God is placing in my life…”
Maybe that should read, “I am trying to be open to WHAT God is placing in my life,” and figure it’s coffee.
Now we know why you can’t get to bed on time! I often will drink coffee late and then lament why I’m not tired before 1 a.m. But it’s definitely good if I need time to blog!
Love that happily caffeinated grin : ) Hope you have a great weekend!
Sounds like you had a very good time! I am stuck on Skinny White Mocha’s when we go to Starbucks . . I also love that verse . . .
Good job on making time for intentional connections. The Starbucks post reminds me that I’ve wanted to ask you if you can send me the link for your “how to make” coffee blog entry from quite awhile ago. I tried searching for it a few times, but haven’t found it yet. I plan to make special coffees for our worship team the next time I’m on for breakfast. I bought a coffee press thing from Starbucks and now I just need to get the frother/shaker thingie that I think I saw on your blog, but again, I haven’t found that post. So, can you email it to me? THANKS!
