What Do You Do …

… when you have a free evening and a relatively open weekend?

I know, these are serious and deep questions. Enough of that frivolous money talk. Let’s take this blog to the next level.

Weekend Relaxin’

I would do a survey but that’s beyond my technical blogging skills. Tim usually handles that sort of thing and he’s too busy to help little ole me. Instead I’ll just cover the basics and you let me know if this sounds like your idea of a good time.

Laundry

Come on, what’s not to like about a weekend full of laundry?

lights

darks

Where did I get all of these socks, and more importantly, WHERE are all their matches???? If you chose laundry as something that tops your list this weekend, perhaps we could get together and combine our unmatched socks. Surely between us we might have a few assembled pairs.

Bills

Another exciting way to spend a weekend. A desk full of bills. Do you see that Dell computer catalog in the stack of bills? Moral dilemma – keep the catalog or throw it away so it won’t be a SNARE to Tim? What do you think? So far it’s been buried on his desk and he hasn’t noticed it, but he LOVES to browse through the yummy computer catalog. Only a computer geek could think a Dell catalog was “yummy.” I don’t want to deprive him of an enjoyable read and I certainly don’t want to be disrespectful.

bills, bills, and more bills

On the other hand, it seems silly to keep chocolate around if you’ve chosen not to eat sugar. Same concept.

Slumber Party!

Let’s see, a Slumber Party in the upstairs hallway. Is there anyone else who thinks that is just the tad bit odd? You would think these children don’t already spend enough time together. Nope, they want to continue to the fun on into the evening.

let's party

No matter what the excitement, joy or fun, you certainly know that my weekend will contain some of this…

oh yeah!

Because really, what’s a little fun if you aren’t awake to enjoy it. Some of us need our caffeine, even on weekend. :)

What are YOU planning to do this weekend? Drop a note and let me know.

  1. Throw AWAY the catalog! (I’m heartless.) He can have that good yummy time sorting socks instead! yippee! A hallway slumber party wouldn’t have even occurred to us; but then we have bare wood hallway floors… not very cozy. My stack of bills isn’t as high as the one in your picture, but is impressive, so it will get my attention. Also on my list is at least an hour of Bible study lesson-ing, hopefully at least 2 hours of Worldviews homework (Francis Schaeffer and Josh McDowell reading), and maybe some Sunday school curriculum searching & evaluating. Administering a practice SAT to #1 son. Then watching together at least one episode of his reward – Stargate SG-1. Then making pizza and walking the dog and having a church friend over for supper while his wife and daughter (i.e. cooks) are out of town. That’s all . What will I do with all my free time?

  2. I crashed out! I had my three plus their two friends over to play and have dinner. Friends left at 8, I came upstairs to read and when hubby came up to put the kids to bed, he found me sound asleep! :-)

This weekend we’ll be doing baseball practice and celebrating the start of spring break. WHOO HOO!! No alarm clocks for a week!!!

  3. Love the slumber party picture!!

We’re heading to an aquarium today, celebrating Jenna’s bday, and then driving FOREVER tomorrow to make it back home. :)

Did I ever tell you it was SO fun to hear your voice on the phone?

  4. I want the colorful striped sock. Does it have a mate or is up for grabs?

I hope you have a fun weekend. We’re being fairly lazy-church tonight at 5:15 and maybe out for supper. But we eat too many calories when we do that, so I should go get something organized and ready. SHOULD.

Loving you, dear Katherine. Aunt Kate

  5. I love the slumber party pic, that’s so cute that they sleep in the hallway!

Let’s see. Today I planned to:
-do a good half day of school to make up for when Holly and I went clothes shopping in North Carolina
-draft up next week’s school schedule (which will only be 2 days of school)
    -clean house
    -cook dinner
-watch DVDs with Holly after the guys went to bed

    In reality, I:
-did one math lesson with Trevor and then gave him his map directions to do his map work
-cleaned 1/4 of Holly’s room while she watched
    -vacuumed
-made a haircut appt for Monday morning (thereby sabotaging one of those two school days)
-made “Buffalo Chicken Chili Mac” for dinner, a Rachael Ray recipe that inspired such comments as “Lord, let it taste better than the first bite”; “Bile it on!,” “Can I have a yogurt?,” and “Next time you go to Leavenworth, don’t order the chicken wings!” (Okay, so that last one means nothing to you, but we found it hysterical.) And I can’t even blog about it because I don’t want to hurt my dear sil’s feelings, even though she just passed the recipe on.
-fought with Holly, so we didn’t watch anything :(

But at least I’m grateful for the opportunity to laugh about my dinner here!

Tomorrow will the first “fellowship lunch,” where the church will offer a bbq lunch afterwards. The plan is to have one each month following a service. (How great of an idea is that? SO much more enjoyable to stay there and visit instead of hitting Taco Bell on the way home!) A group of 40 just got back from Israel, so they’ll be sharing pictures. This is even more wonderful because it’s not THAT big of a church.

And after tonight’s dinner, my plan for tomorrow is just YOYO (You’re On Your Own)! And there’s PLENTY of Buffalo Chicken Chili Macaroni left over…

  6. Hey…..I have the matches to some of those socks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How’d you get them?
    Let’s see, what did I do today………
~I met with a neighbor over tea and talked about stocks/gold/the Alps/Denver/remodeling/believing in heaven and hell and gardening!
~Made a meal for a friend recovering from surgery.
~Did NOT make as good of a meal for family. Hmmmmm……
~Did enter all taxable donations onto Turbo Tax for DH….(2 hours later)
    ~Did NOT do laundry.
    ~Did NOT do cardio. :(
    ~Did hug and kiss kids!
Note to self….hug and kiss DH before 10pm. :)

    How’s that?-! Love ya Pal!!!!!!!

  7. Honestly… I wonder REALLY what happens to all those socks. We have kept our spares for over a year before and NEVER found the match… Its just bizzarre. Just Bizzarre.

I went to my first homecshool curriculum fair… with a friend. I know which curriculum I am doing next year but she needed someone to drive her so I went too. It was amazing. We left before the sun was out… got coffee from the most expensive coffee place on earth (why do you think its called starBUCKS) then bought things I never thought I needed. ;)

Tomorrow… who knows. We might have Corned Beef and Cabbage after service. Maybe we will wait. Either way… I am thinking about making Beer bread tonight for gifts for tomorrow.

Yes, I realize it’s 10:30… my body (and the coffee and tea I had today) don’t grasp this yet.

  8. Ahhhh. Now the sock thing is beginning to make sense to me. I think I recognize some of those socks… their matches are over HERE. I think it’s a dryer conspiracy… :D

  9. I love that mug and saucer! And a cup of coffee is my idea of a good time. Although I am forced to admit that I am not from the NW and to me Starbucks is too bitter! My VA born and FL raised hubby loves Starbucks, though. :-)

  10. Luke and the boys worked on the new firetruck bed, I went to Costco and bought about a month’s worth of supplies, Palm Sunday at church this morning, and then… yup… laundry.

  11. When I was in TX, I actually found one of my missing sock mates in a pair of (clean) underwear. It was good to find it…I just hope it didn’t get lost in my luggage!

  12. I would totally throw away the catalog, because…well…I do. LOL I don’t usually have to stop Eric from buying things, but I suspect that I am assisting in keep his heart content when I get rid of a catalog like Dell’s when we aren’t in need of a new computer.
